Before time began

Since before time began I held you to myself
and then at five years old, to my delight, you became complete
when you ran and embraced my outstretched arms and sat upon my knee

Dear child, that place has your name on it & is reserved for you
I love it when you climb up here & bend my ear.
Sometimes with eyes ablaze and softened heart, your passion sparks and joins with mine
Together we create an explosion of light and sound which sends showers of sparkles
and flaming arrows down to earth and the sounds reverberate in the land.

Sometimes with shoulders drooping & countenance marred, bruised you climb in humility
to sit upon my knee

I look into your troubled eyes & see reflected back my own, pools of liquid love
Your hunger & desire for me ravishes my heart and I am undone.
You turn your aching shoulders, tired of burden to my waiting hands
and I cover you with liquid love, relieving tension,
releasing the JOY that is strength.

It seems to me with passing years you're spending more time up here with me,
I'm glad you know, because it means there's time to show you the view
Can you see it child?
The vast expanse of barren terrain
It's also been reserved for you

What do you see? What's your dream?
I will help you dig and plant, uproot, tear down
and place upon & within the barren landscape
The things which I have been waiting to see before the start of time
The things that reflect both you and me!
A colourful and creative expanse FULL OF GLORY.

Come play with me......

Ivory Towers

We sit in our ivory towers, imprisoned by the cleanliness of ordered lives.
Neat edges, neat headges and freshly mown grass,

Brushing the outskirts of our false Eden the world passes by...
An unborn child, a mother in crisis, a lonely wife, a bereaved son, these make up the mass of humanity that need the Eden touch.

We think we have it, life is good.
The thirsty pass us by as we sit high in our ivory towers,
guarding our orderliness, emotions held neatly in check as we play life in our false Eden.

Multitudes in desparation, skimming the edges of our reality, and deception imprisons us.
O God - Shatter the illusion and smash down our towers so we get to walk the talk,
To dwell amongst and walk amidst, offering the cup to the thirsty, rescuing the ones in need,
So the world can join in too and find the one who is a tower and refuge in this broken Eden.
